TYPES OF FLANGES

  • what is Flange

A flange is a method of connecting pipes, valves, pumps and other equipment to form a piping system. It also provides easy access for cleaning, inspection or modification. Flanges are usually welded or screwed. Flanged joints are made by bolting together two flanges with a gasket between them to provide a seal.

TYPES OF FLANGE

·       Slip on Flange

Slip on Flange is essentially a ring that is placed over the pipe end, with the flange face extending from the end of the pipe by enough distance to apply a weld bead on the inside diameter. The OD of slip on flange is also welded on the back side of the flange.

·       Weld neck  Flange

Weld neck flanges are used in applications where the conditions are severe and critical. Some of these conditions include high pressure, wide fluctuations in temperature and pressure, high temperature, fluids that are volatile and hazardous, and temperatures in the sub-zero range.

·       Socket weld Flange

Socket-weld pipe flanges are typically used on smaller sizes of high pressure pipes. These pipe flanges are attached by inserting the pipe into the socket end and applying fillet weld around the top. This allows for a smooth bore and better flow of the fluid or gas inside of the pipe

·       Blind Flange

A flange can also be a plate or ring to form a rim at the end of a pipe when fastened to the pipe (for example, a closet flange). A blind flange is a plate for covering or closing the end of a pipe. A flange joint is a connection of pipes, where the connecting pieces have flanges by which the parts are bolted together.

·       Lap joint Flange

Lap joint pipe flanges slide directly over the pipe and are most commonly used with stub end fittings. A pipe is usually welded to the Stub End and the Lap Joint pipe flange is free to rotate around the stub end. Lap Joint pipe flanges are often used for applications that require frequent dismantling.

·       Reducing Flange

Reducing flanges are a specialty flange that are most often used on projects that require the fitting together of different sized pipes. A reducing flange consists of a flange with one specified diameter having a bore of a different and smaller, diameter.

·       Threaded Flange

Threaded Flanges (Screwed flanges) are similar to slip-on flanges in outline, but the bore is threaded, thus enabling assembly without welding. This obviously limits its application to relatively low pressure piping systems. Threaded Flanges may be welded around the joint after assembly, but this is not considered a satisfactory method of increasing the flanges' pressure applications. Threaded flange use in low press condition usually.

·       Spade and ring spacer Flange

Spades ring spacers flanges are a specific type of flanges that are used in industrial applications that require maintenance a lot. Dinesh Industries is a supplier of this type of flanges and we have all different dimensions, material grades and types of flanges with us. As a Spades Flange Manufacturer we can cater for any of the customer requirements, even with custom orders. The need to close and open a pipe often requires for a different mechanism than just closing the pipe or cutting it open. So the Spades & Ring Spacers are there with a spade and a ring either of which could be aligned with the pipe with the loosening and tightening of a few bolts.

·       Orifice Flange

An Orifice flange is a disc-shaped flange, engineered with either a Raised Face or a Ring Type Joint facing. The traditional orifice flange assembly consists of a pair of flangesorifice plate, bolts, nuts, gaskets, jacking screws and plugs. Jacking screws ensure the easy removal of the primary flow element.
